This Is the advice to Oregon anglers from Phil Schneider, state game director, who said a comprehensive survey Is now under way to determine total angling effort In the state during the calendar year 1965 tn terms of total angler days, location of effort, kinds of fish being fished for and the su ccess. Schneider said that the survey is being carried out by the Department of Statlttstlcs at Oregon State University under the direction o r Dr. L . D. Calvin. Schneider advised that Indi viduals s e l e c t e d for the telephone Interview would first receive a card which explains the purpose of the survey and a notice of the Impending tele phone call. Since the sampling Is done on a monthly basis, these persons are contacted by telephone within a short period following the first of the month by professional tele phone survey girls. Data being collected within each household unit Include the sex and age of the anglers and how many tim es during the month each fished. Where ln- dividuc! anglers fished Is de scribed by the name of the body of water and the nearest town. Information Is requested on the species of fish anglers were principally fishing for on each trip. Success by species will also be obtained. Schneider urged the full co operation of all individuals con tacted. BASS BOATS BIRDIE Golfer Dr. Harry Geldii«r tried for a birdie ami got a fish.
