The new law, passed by the liK'.3 le Islattite, says, In ef fect, that no person shall offer for sale a new passenger auto mobile that has seating for one m more passengei s tieslde the d rive r unless the vehicle Is equipped with seat belts o r harnesses in the front seat. The belts o r harnesses must meet minimum standards and specifications adopted by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Foster suffered fractured legs, lacerations Io his left arm and head and multiple contusions Mrs Peterson es caped with head and leg lacer ations, multiple contusions and abrasions. Both are reported Io be in satisfactory condition acd rt m iin in the hospital According Io reports, the ticciderl occurred when Mrs Peterson going south, may have hit the wet -highway shoulder when she moved over for on-coming tra ffic and the car went out of control on a curve and collided with the ro rth bound Foster car. She was thrown out of h r car, landing under the rearend of the Foster vehicle A third car, driven by Ron Couch. Coos Bay, hit the right rear fender of the Peterson car shortly after the first col lision Damage to the Couch car was considered very minor and there were no injuries. Foster and Mrs Peterson were given emergency treat men! and taken to the hospital by Port Orford Ambulance.
