The law is specific in stating that; “ A d riv e r of a vehicle approaching a blind pedestrian who is carrying a white cane in a raised or extended po sitio n, o r is accompanied by a dog guide, shall im m ediately come to a fu ll stop and take such precaution before preceding as may be necessary to avoid ac cident o r in ju ry to the pedes tr ia n .” Even if a blind person has entered a road in vio la tio n of a tra ffic lig h t o r other co n tro l, the d r i v e r of a vehicle ap proaching such pedestrian shall yie ld the rig ht of way to the pedestrian and stop u n til the wav is clear. The ¡aw pro hibits anyone who is not blind fro m c a rry in g a white cane. Regarding last week's e d ito r ial, "C u t Y o u r Cv-n C a rd s," concerning only one candidate fo r each city alderm an va ca n cy, there certainly w i ll be no choice for the voter.
