Thusaday, May 14, Hospital to Have Open House; Announce Scholarship Winner The Southern Coos General Hospital Auxiliary w ill hold its annual Open House Sunday afternoon at the hospital be ginning at 1 o'clock This a ffa ir is being held in conjunc tion with National Hospital Week Highlight of the open house and silver tea w ill be the pres entation of the auxiliary's med ical scholarship of $ioo to a young person within the hos p ital district who plans a career in some phase of medi cine or nursing. A uxiliary members will act as guides for those wishing to see some of the hospital facil ities. Refreshments w ill be served in the dining room between the hours of 1 and 4 with wives of the medical staff and past presidents of the auxiliary as hostesses The general public is cordi ally invited to attend. Oregon To Host Legion Confab Portland, Oregon, has been awarded the national conven tio n of The American Legion for 1965, according to Départ i r e n t of Oregon Commander W illia m R. Stevens who was so advised by the National Con vention Commission meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, today. Portland had earlier sought the world's largest veterans'or ganization's appearance f o r 1966 but was able to outbid Philadelphia tor the fin a l deci sion on next year s conclave. Robert H. Haxen. chairman ol the National Convention for Oregon Committee, »as in In dianapolis today handling Ore gon's bid for the big show which may bring as many as 50.000 veterans of World War L World War II and Korea to the City of Roses. Date of the 1965 meeting in Portland has been scheduled for August 20-26 with a post con vention tour to the State of Ha w a ii added as an additional in centive to those making the trek to the West Coast.
