The accident occured at 10:25 a. m. According to a sheriff's office report, John Carpenter, 18, Elk R iv e r was driving north in a Chevrolet convertable when he co llid e d w ith a pickup driven by Lloyd W. Stam, 67, of Bandon, who was accompanied by h is w if e . The Carpenter car h it Stam's truck on the le ft front end, bounced up in the air and spun into another pickup, driven by Eric Reutercrona of Sixes, then f l i p p e d back across the highway and headed into the bank facing east. The Reuter ina vehicle was almost stop ped when hit. Mrs. Stam sustained a sprained ankle and chest injuries andwas rendered unconcious from the im pact. She was released after treatm ent at Southern Coo* Gen eral Hospital. Mr. Stam suffer ed six fractured le ft ribs. Also released Monday, he was re-ad m itte d Wednesday w ith a punc tured le ft lung, caused from the broken ribs.
