State of Washington, host for
the Seattle World's Pair, and
about 100 out-of-state families
can expect to be literally smil
ed to death.
The organized smile cam-
oaign n, sponsored by the Wash-
on State Junior Chamber of
ingto!
Commerce, the F a ir’s State
Welcome Committee and the
State's Tourist Promotion Divi
sion. will mean those 100 select
ed visitors will receive a day
and evening of free entertain
ment and hospitalitv,
Washingtonians with the im
portance of tourism to their
communities, to make visitors
fee! welcome to stay longer and
to bring national recognition to
Washington s warm reception
of tourists
In Auburn, where Welcome
Committee general chairman
E. B “Gene'' Kasper resides,
the chamber of commerce has
gone s step further Residents
in the 23 other Auburns in the
U S . in 23 states, have been
invited to stay at the name
sake of their home town when
they visit the World's F air
Incidentally a random sur
eey of Fairgoers by F a ir of
Qcials shows Calif., Ore. and
nudwtster'. tourists are leading
the way to the Fair
First of a series of 196 inter
views with visitors showed that
105 were from out of state 51
from Seattle and 40 from else
where in Wash And here's an
interesting fact to those con
templating, but still undecided
about visiting the Space Age
World's Fair:
“Ninety -four per cent of those
fatteniewed said they had no
problems with traffic, housing
or other matters during their
stays.
Tifty-five per cent found
Fair prices about the same as
expected. 35 per cent spent 'ess
than expected and 10 per cent
spent more.'’
