I To Enforce Laws Local Boys Win Game Van Duzer Reelected Number 34. Btaaunsaaaasa WHICH IS IT, MR. INMAN? . The option on the dock is included in the assets of the bank- rupt Inman Lumber & Development Company bid in for the ac count of H. N. Sperry, trustee. Mr. Sperry is one of the large stockholders and a director in The Inman Mines Company. The balance of the assets have been allowed to become lost entirely, or greatly depreciated, through mortgage foreclosure, through withdrawal of contracts from escrow, through advertisement for sale for delinquent taxes, etc., until at this writing there remains but two of the principal items, other than the dock option, both of which are mortgaged for several times their actual mortgage loan value, the only piece of real property free from encumbrance be ing a piece of tide lands costing $350.00 in 1928 and worth no rqore than that amount now. With the knowledge that the Port Commission has decreed that all arrearages, with accrued interest, on the ock option must be paid up by July 14, 1931, else the option ’ will be cancelled, and the further fact that title to said option was bid in for the account of H. N. Sperry, trustee, it is quite vital to the landowners of the port district to know just what the future of that option is to be if an extension is granted, or if an entirely new deal is given before July 14th; therefore, it is of paramount importance that Mr. Inman should satisfactorily answer the following ques tions: First: Do you hold an assignment of said option from H. N. Sper ry, trustee, and, if so, is said assignment an outright assign ment conditioned on performance by you in organizing a new company, with the dock option as a part of the assets, and the including of the bankrupt Inman Mines Company therein? If you do not hold any assignment of the option are you seek ing an extension as the agent of H. N. Sperry, trustee? Second: If an extension of the option is granted will such exten sion run to H. N. Sperry, trustee, or to you, or to you and Mr. Noble; and will the said bankrupt Inman Mines Company be “unloaded” on such new company to be organized, having the dock option as one of its chief assets, for the sum of $300,000, as was attempted in 1928, or for any other amount? These questions are fair and the landowners are entitled to fair answers, as they are much concerned as to the future of their lands and in order that they may decide what is best for themselves and the community generally. While the citizens of the port district sympathize with those eastern stockholders who invested in The Inman Mines Company, and whose stock was scheduled to be “unloaded” on the harbor project in 1928 to relieve them from loss by reason of a bad in vestment, yet, the local people cannot be blamed for the making of that bad investment, which could have been easily avoided by having a reputable mining engineer make an investigation of the mine instead of giving heed, without such investigation, to the alluring promises of the promoter. The eastern investors cannot consistently expect the landowners of the port district to further shoulder the load by furnishing the credit on which to promote a new enterprise having for one of its objects the “unloading” of the bankrupt corporation on the new company with the dock option as its chief asset. A full knowledge of all the facts is necessary before action is taken in any business deal, and in this particular case the land- owners are entitled to a prompt reply. Which Is It, Mr. Inman ? • * ♦ * * With the common understanding that the matter of an ex tension of the present option, or an entirely new deal, will be sought at the next meeting of the Commission on July 6, and with the further possibility that if such extension, or a new deal, is granted, the bankrupt Inman Mines Company will be “unloaded” on a new organization formed with the dock option as its chief asset, it becomes of grave importance for the landowners to know all the facts connected with the 1928 attempt to “unload” the min ing company on the then harbor project, and the many other acts and irregularities that prevented a successful carrying out of that project, resulting in court action and forced liquidation. These facts are all matters of record and the records are easily obtain able; in fact, the Commission’s counsel is thoroughly familiar with them, and it is presumed he will be present at this'important meeting. There is but one issue before the landowners—the carrying out of the provisions of the Commission’s decree of April 5th to either secure the paying up of arrearages or the cancellation of the option and the clearing of title to the property. With but eight days, from date of meeting, remaining there appears to be no sat isfactory reason for modifying or altering the decision even in the minutest degree, and if the option holde»*« cannot meet the tenns of the Commission’s order after four years have passed by it is absurd to think they can do so if an extension is granted. With the cancellation of the option and the clearing of the title to the property, the present holders of the option may consistently seek a new deal, along with others who may desire to negotiate with the Commission, but in every instance all cards should be face upwards and plenty of time taken in which to investigate the fi nancial ability and integrity of the would be purchasers.
