Oregon, Tuesday, March 17, 1931. COMMUNITY NEEDS Every progressive community requires an active Chamber of t ommerce, or an organization of similar character by whatever name it may be known, and a live newspaper, to keep abreast of the times and fulfill its destiny. The Port Orford Chamber of Commerce has fully establish ed its right to existence through the great amount of constructive civic work it has brought to completion during the past four vears including the freeing of the scenic Oregon Coast Highway from the commercial billboard nuisance throughout Curry County and its maintenance in that natural condition—the preservation of historic Battle Rock amid befitting surroundings—the securing of Congressional action for the establishment of a coast guard sta tion—and the work of preservation of the interesting sea lion through the adoption of adequate legislation by the State.
