PORT ORFORD NO. 52. PORT ORFORD, OREGON: THURSDAY, MAA 25, 1SS2. VOL. IT. THE POST. POST. A H u g e S lid e . A land slide of considerable magnitude ju st below town pre sents some interesting phenom ena. A largo section of the bluff gave way during the past \\ inter, sliding down upon the sand beach, and, though the mass is far re moved from whore it started, some of the trees still stand eiect upon it, as if they had grown on the spot. The pressuro behind and next to the bluff is so great as keep the mass on tlie move sea ward, though so gradually, as iu the case of a glacier, that no mo tion is perceptible to tho eye, yet so considerable lias been t ’10 move m ent during tho months since the slide occurred, that, had its base not been continually abraded by the serf at high tido, it m ust ere this have completely obstructed the broad beach occupied by it; as it is, it proves an inconvenience to travel up ano down tho beach when the title is in.
