The immense deposit of sand stone of the very first quality which has lately been prospected on Mr. Jo h n Blackloek’s place ju st above Cape Blanco is likely to figure at no very distant day as not the least among the available resources of Curry county. M ill ions of cubic yards of building stone of a quality essentially in ferior to this have been laid down in San Francisco from B ritish Columbia. One fact greatly in favor of this sand stone is, that it is entirely free from iron. The quarry is of such magnitude as to promise an almost inexhaustible supply of stone of any desired dimensions. SLATS. There is also in the vicinity of the above mentioned stone quarry, a slate q u arry from which speci mens have been taken, bu t we have no present knowledge Of the proba ble extent of the deposit. As to the question of quality the speci mens taken out of this mine have been pronounced by experts as indicating slato of excellent qual ity. Considerable capital will of course, be required to properly develop these quarries, bu t once opened, there is no telling to what extent they may yet bo worked. An im portant item to be consider ed preparatory to working these deposits will be provisions for shipping their products.
