After all was done, they played Sheridan on the home grounds and wqn with a score of 10 to 6, but lost to Amity by a score of 3 to 8. It was a surprise to the senior class to see an old classmate return ing on Monday morning. We refer to Everett Trent, who has been spend ing a few weeks in California. After some days of waiting the new baseball suits arrived. As the time is flying by and school will soon come to an end, the junior class have awakened to the fact that, “Time waits for no man,” and are A breach of promise auit has been working on the play “Come out of the flh-d in the Circuit Court of the State | kitchen." Don’t leave your kick until the calanders are out. If you have anything to say about calanders for 1928 be on hand Monday night. Another item of importance to come before the meeting will be the or ganizing of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. Some time ago there was a committee appointed to look into the fixing up of the old Community Club rooms and a full report from this committee is alsa expected on Monday evening. o PRUNE INDUSTRY UNDER DISCUSSION The report on the prune survey that has been carried on for some time by people of this and other counties was discussed by the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Salem at the Chamber of Commerce rooms Tuesday, April 12. The meeting was well attended from all parts of the state. The recommendations were to change the grades of prunes from 30-40, 40-50, 50-60, 60-70 to large, medium and small. Professor C. L. Long of the O. A. C., suggested that there should be a standard moisture content of prunes in packing; an at tempt to have a more equal produc tion; annual pruning to inerease size; summer cultivation to conserve moisture; the use of bulky fertilizers in cover crops supplemented by nit rogenius fertiliers of commercial varieties; that those orchards on poor lands be eradicated and only such soils as will produce a quality prune be kept in prunes so that the cost of production may be materially lower; raise the sie of Oregon prunes to 30-40 at least 50 per cent so that we will get away from California com petition. Advertising was discussed, national and localized, with various taken. Director Paul V. Maris, of the O. A. C. Extension Service, suggested long er deliberation before taking definite action.
