HAPPY NEW YEAR ®rthmw Slayton VOL. 3. NO. 1» PUBLISH EO EVERY THURSDAY Dayton Events Told in Headed Paragraphs OLD time : dan < e SPLENDID SUCCESS W. M. Toney, who organized an Old Time Dance Club here some two weeki ago, is meeting with splendid success. At the dance on Wednesday night there wax a fair turnout and those present expressed the wish that these dances be kept up. Mr. Toney's Family Orchestra, which supplied the music, was all that could be wished for and surely proved their ability to handle their instruments. The singing of a number of pieces by the lady who played the flute was much appreciated, and the music as a whole was fine, smooth, dancing music. Any of the “old-timers” who love the old time dances, such as Quadrilles, Waltzes, Two-steps, etc., are certain ly assured of a good time by attend ing these dances. Mr. Toney an nounces that he will again be in Day ton on Wednesday evening Jan. 6, and every two weeks thereafter. The orchestra is in the hall and “Rearin’- to-go” at eight o'clock sharp and if you are there at this time you can have four hours of the finest time of your life. -------------- o OUR APPRECIATION To the many kind people that made our Christmas day so pleasant by sending and bringing so many nice things, I desire to extend our sincere thanks. Respectfully, Mrs. Luella laiwrence and children. . ,. —- o —— ■ Doings At The Coun ty Court House As Seen By Our Special McMinn ville Correspondent. Margaret Isaac, of Grand Ronde, died Saturday night in the McMinn ville hospital, the result of a drunk en party in which she was a partici pant and Ralph Easter, her escort is being held in the county jail pending action to be taken after an investiga tion by the County Coroner, at Sheri dan. According to the report as given by Ralph Easter, a party consisting of himself, Sam Countryman, Jose phine Florence McKinney and Mar garet Isaac went to New Grand Ronde to the LaBonta place where they purchased a pint of moonshine and after drinking it decided to go back and get some more which they did, this time getting two pints ami after drinking it they drove to Will amina. Margaret, who was in n drunken condition, became jealous of Easter nnd accused him of “stepping- out" with another girl. I nthe dis cussion she opened the car door and before Easter could stop her she jumped from the car. They took the girl to a doctor in Sheridan who told them to take her home that she would be allright when she sobered up. The party spent the night nt the Wirf Mill where Margaret lay un- concious all night and her family was sent for the next day. Dr. Barendrict from McMinnville had her taken to the McMinnville hospital, where she died Saturday night. It was stated that her death was caused by a frac tured skull. * Paul Mumpower and two deputies from Polk County raided the Page place near Buell last week and took fifty gallons of mash, some moon shine and seven guns. The owners of the place are A. C. Page, Roy Page and Will Page. A. C. Page plead guilty and was sentenced to ninety days in jail and a fine of $300.00. The electricians are now working on the electric wiring at the court house to make same meet the specifications as sent out by the insurnce company. -------------- o-------------- The company nt the home of J.
