For thirteen years Mr. lA'wis was chief of Hie division of horticulture at the Oregon Agricul­ tural college, and vice-director of the experiment station. During his ad­ ministration there it was generally recognised that one of the strongest departments of horticulture in the United States was built up at that in stitution. Mr. Lewis helped tho Ore­ gon Growers Cooperative association from the first day they started. Dur­ ing June and July, 1919, he toured the state in the interests of the Ore gon growers. August 1, 1919, he was chosen organisation manager and car tied on the preliminary work and built the organisation up to its pre ent membership of 2000 and 112,000 acres.
