GOVERNOR OLCOTT has issued a formal call for a meeting of the etate legislature in extra session on Monday December 19th 1921. Governor Olcott mentioned the proposed special state­ wide tax levy in support of the Inter- nstionsl Exposition st Portland in 1925 and necessary legislation for the preservation and protection of the bighwaya of the state as the particular reasons of which the session is being called. Regulation of speed and weight of motor trucks and regulation of the passenger carrying vehicle industry are two phases set forth by the gover­ nor as needing attention. To assist the legislature in highway legislation the governor annuoncad the appoint­ ment of a committee whose duty it will be to prepsre bills and have them ready to submit at the opening of the session.
