A FOREIGN MAN I’m done with your fads and your wild
Said Dan McGann to a foreign man,
who worked at tbe self-same bench:
“Let me tell you this,” and for empha
sis he flourished a monkey-wrench,
“Don’t talk to me of this oourjoissee.
Dent’ open your mouth to speak
Of your sicialists and your anarchists,
don’t mention the boisheveek,
For I’ve bad enough of this foreign
stuff, 1 am sick as a man can be
Of the speech of hate, and I’m tellin’
you straight that this is the land for
me!
“If you want to brag, just take that
flag, an’ boast of its field of blue.
An’ praise the dead an’ the blood they
shed for the peace of the lives o’ you
I'll hear no more.” and he waived once
more his wrench in a forceful way.
“O. the cunning creed of some Russian
eyed lads. Don't flourish your flag
o’ red
Where I can see or at night there’ll be
tall candles around your bed.
“So tip your hat to a flag like that!
Thank God for its stripes an’ star«!
Thank God your here where the roads
are clear, away from your kings and
czars.
I cant’ just «ay what I feel today, for
I’m not a talkin’ man.
But first an’ last I am standin’ fast for
all that’s American.
So don’t you speak of tbe boisheveek,
it’s sick of that stuff, 1 am.
One God, one flag is the creed I brag!
M I’m boostin’ for Uncle Sam.”

Last Saturday afternoon Newberg
suffered the loss of some five or more
buildings and ten automobiles by fire,
which started in the Palmer garage.
Loss estimated at about 235,000. The
Moore brothers who were at work in
the repair ahop discovered the blaze
about 5:30 after the entire vulcanizing
room was ablaze. Several fraternal
organizations
suffered considerable
losses when their upstairs quarters
were badly damaged. Their recent fire
which destroyed a 110,000 church and
other incidental small losses runs the
loss up to near $50,000 which is a
serious blow to this enterprising city.
