Please give this your attention. Record of Jonathan Bourne SAM E. CUMMINS Mr. S E. Cummins pre^nt County Commissioner is a candidate for relection. This office is of m ire importance than any other in the county. It deals with the vital interests of every citizen To the County Commissioner is en trusted the expenditure of large sums of money for the building of bridges, con structing of highways, caring for dependent poor, opening and workingquarries, distribution of building materials, and hundreds of other details. This requires executive ability, patience and judgement of a high order coupled with moral courage to do the right in spite of adverse criticism of those who fails to carry through some personal scheme. Mr. Cummins has been a resident of Yamhill County most of his life with an acquaintance in all parts of the district. He knows the conditions snd needs of the people ami possesses the ability to meet the demands in a practical way, hence the need is met in a substantial manner, at least possible expense. In public work it is now a recognized fact that true econnomy does not con sist in the smallest expenditures, but in always getting the best, that which will last longest, for your money. Millions of dollars have been utterly wasted in this valley through ignorant methods in road work and bridge building. The present condition of our highways and the permanent structures spanning our waterways, where before had been trans for roads and rotten wooden bridges for crossings demonstrate the good horse sence of our present commissioners. Does some citizen protest and call attention to our increasing indebtedness? Read the partial list of substantial, warranted structures that in the last four years have taken the place of the ramshackle, costly, dangerous things we call ed bridges and culverts and remember, that these are all paid for, that they will stand forever, that expense has stopped and THAT OUR COUNTY IS LESS IN DEBT THAN EVER BEFORE.
