Earl and her son Hugh Sari, last week went to Sweet Home, uinn county, to see Mrs. Earl’s mother, Mrs Elizabeth Riggs Lewis, who was seriously ill, and who has since died. Mrs. Riggs was one of the old Oregon pioneers. She was born in Missouri, December 22d, Stewart 1818, was married 1844, and crossed the Lewie plains in 1846 She was the mother of nine children seven of whom five sone and two daughters, sur­ vive her with about sixty grand and great gradchildren. There was a full meeting of the old and new city council on Monday evening last, and con­ siderable business was transact­ ed. 8. R. After the old council had adjourned the new council took their seats with Mayor Harris in the chair.
