Now that the West Dayton de|»ot has been neatly and com fortably fitted up by the railroad company, another improvement lias been suggested, which is in dependent of the railroad unless they are incliued to assist. I t is that the wagon road between Dayton and the depot be graded and the ditches on each side be made ao that the water will run off, and then a good coat of good gravel spread over the road. This would be a grand improve ment, and t benefit to almost ev ery one. The road could be made perfectly level for that matter, to the far corner of Al- derman's farm aud would make a fine drive. Mias Francis E. W illard, pres ident of the W oman’s Christian Temperance Union died shortly after midnight, Feb. 18, from ef- fectsof la grippe. She ws also founder, and for 4 years president of the W erld’s W. C. T . U., and was the best known woman in America. Much more than a national chacpctet, Miss W illard is a figure in history. Posterity will remember her with gratitude as one who lived for the race. People all over the world w ill feel her loss, for Miss W illard oc cupied a position which can nev er he filled. The good work will go on, but lose of her advice as a leader will be deeply felt. In her death the cause of temper ance loses its most earnest, active and able champion, and human ity the world over, a devoted friend.
