Blough, I engaged to lake charge of the La fayette public school. Mr. Blough was only here on trial, and asked for $75 per month, which was more than the school board was willing to pay. It is all right to economise but even in business matters econ omy carried to extremes becomes parsimony, and the results sought are often not attained. We do not Hiow personally as to Mr. Blough’s ft aching, not having visited ms >i hool, but what we have heard expressed by those interested, and in general conversation with that gentleman we consider him fully able and competent to teach this or any other school in tlie county with good results. But what we wish to impress on the people of this dis trict, is that it is not so much the wages paid, aa it is to have compe tent and experienced teachers, and when you get them hold to them. Il is supposed when you are hiring teachers that jt is th« welfare of the child—your child—thtft you look alter—its mental and moral train ing, and the teacher that fails lodo this is not worthy of the position he occupies.
