Tent
I Am Not Alone (My
Serm onette) Part I
by Michael Logan
By Ron Sanford
It sits alone, a tent
Tucked neatly away into a copse of trees
Mostly out of sight
Door orientated towards the east
To capture the rays of th e rising morning sun
It seems we’ve all had to deal with grief lately
At SR, in my life, well, can’t get too personal...
But life IS personal - and it’s not “all good”
Unless, maybe someone is blind as a bat
To their surroundings
For now it is night
Stars are out, a sliver of moon
Its occupants sleep soundly
Mentally caressed by a softly wafting breeze
Slightly bending the boughs of tall majestic conifers
Emanating a soothing sound that massages the soul
Whilst the Lord continues to tarry
The cosmos slips and cracks
Under the weight of its own evil vices
Big corporations, big government, big CEOs
Can lobby for the pet projects they choose
Yet funds lack for the truly needy
Big power blocs headed by A-type males
Keep fueling the proxy wars against
Smaller countries, as ancient rivalries
Smoulder on endlessly
A pair of deer wander near, curious
Silently exploring the perim eter
Gathering scents, searching for scraps of food
Soon to drift off into the night
Ghosts on the move
Nearby waves rhythmically lap upon the stony shore of a lake
Sounds of a miniature ocean
Water polishes stones round
A timeless ongoing process, eons old
The focus can be taken off of my problems
At least for a spell, as another death and then
Another funeral transpires
One big church headed by a politician
U tters “sic transit gloria mundi amuda”
As the flock is exiling en masses
And so has my love grown cold?
Waves of music creating waves of deep sleep
A subliminal cleansing away of stress and worry
All is quiet, restful, and at peace
A tent gently sways in the breeze
A subliminal cleansing away of stress and worry
All is quiet, restful, and at peace
A tent gently sways in the breeze
I Control M yself
by Char
I am not your cat or kitten
I am not your dog or puppy
I am not your puppet or doll
Nor do I wish you to be mine
I am human I am alive with
Compassion, love, respect
For all of life
