Early Morning Reject
by Daniel Cox
Creation Speaks
by Maddy Brown
A waste of a day, it started at
the break of dawn, and the crack
of the first beer, so early in the morn.
It proceeds to two, then three
and so forth, the happy warm content
feeling, when you first know its love
tapping you, later you feel
the effects hit you harder.
Till you’re in the ring and you hear them
counting you out before you black out.
I laid down the worries of the week
And went to hear the river speak
An eagle landed on the rocky shore
Then dived for fish to freedom and more
It didn’t worry that I was there
It swooped and dove without a care
And I was thrilled by creation’s show
And the hypnotic river’s flow
Then when the time came for me to go
I knew that I had come to know
Secrets that moved me so.
Where Did You
Sleep Last Night
Sky Above
by Tina Drake
by Echo Chambers
Lighted clouds high in the sky above
Soaring through the great beyond
Never knowing that final resting place.
Sure as night, they soar.
Morning 'til night these clouds weep.
Raindrops soaking the grass
Bright as day it shines.
Floating high above the earth
Sun’s ray lighting the path.
The song of birds singing together
Filling children’s hearts with glee.
Slowly the setting sun shines about.
The moon’s glow like that of a lost soul
Hunting for a path through the night.
This morning rides till dawn
When lighted clouds rise
Through the sky above.
somewhere between here
and nowhere, in limbo
a restful restless sleep
too awake to dream
too tired to try
why I waste this time winding,
trying to fall into a dream
which looks easier than it seems
what always stops me before I start weed
the need to dream
escapes me every night
that’s all. right with me
somewhere in-between
nowhere & here
that restless restful
sleep that only comes from THC.
