Progress Not Perfection

A day in the life, a succession of days,
For so many the envy of another’s possessions
A prepossession whose preposition is the infernal
Ruse that what pleases us in pleasure will
Just as surely do for us, those same great tricks
They did once do as we chatted in bliss.
Without the urge to love yourself,
It becomes quite hard to love someone else
Starry-eyed Mary brings us this perspective
homeless?
To be sure, and considering other wording,
Trusting that success judged by your standards
Stands in the way of any alternative candor
Is so very much just that worth it
Some rules aren’t really made to be broken
Golden years should be golden because they really shine
Not be bruised by any arbitrary bottom line.

It’s said to trust your gut and truly
Learning to live one day at a time
Brings to mind another bottom line
Survival for sure is life’s soulful mainstay
This week that was the first whose daily
Progression yielded that I am the one
Who now lives now boasting a godlike approach
To reducing strife and extolling life
For having made clear that a day goes not by
Where my part in this play can be compromised.
