W hile You Weren’t Looking

In the Beginning
Night Falls

While you weren’t looking, I grew old
I know th aty o u are shocked, I know
That you thought
That I would always be
Here to love you
To try to m eet your needs
But
While you weren’t looking, I grew old ;
Bad of heart and memory, shaft;
Of strength, agility.
Though I still love yoù, unable to m eet your needs.
I know that it is foolish
But ... ....
I feel guilty, and ashamed;
While you weren’t looking, I grew old!
Chasing an eidless dream
That hurts deep down
This sense of great pain
You seem to know the right choice,
But sadly choose the other.
You emerge from endless sleep _
No sense of who I am, I start
To examine my body.
My skin is soft, my hair •
I s long. Then I am aware
Of a looking glass that reflects
The image of what I am.
Facial features are odd.
For what I gaze upon
My eyes are bright, but firm
High cheek bones, my complexion
Is dark as the things th at surround
Me. Me I become aware of.
Ia m and always grateful to my
Creator.
As Night Falls
I see die last light gleaming in your eyes
I ponder the time we shared together -
I know your voice will stay with me for hours
Like a bird chirping in the desert
As Night Falls
I look at the beautiful colors in the
desert sky behind you !
The coiofs that amplify your beauty
Your beauty is so intoxicating
Jt seems to take the'colors-away from the
desert sky
Leaving the sky black and white
As Night Falls
Itis sad to hear your parting words
Are you a
