On Gifts and Grace...
by Maddy Brown-Clark ,
by j.mccurdy
He was tall and lean
and his hair was sculptured
like an African warrior.
And he was a warrior
for the hom eless..
They called him Street Angel.
Street Angel had a plan
as he carried around his worn leather briefcase.
He’d been doing research
on how to secure vacant buildings
as shelters for the homeless. -
He listened to his favorite singer
singing the song “Lovely Day.”
It went on and on.
I *
And Street Angel had secured a hiphop singer
to do a concert to buy buildings.
So it was indeed a lovely day,
a beautiful day of hope.
The Value of a Moment
by Doug Mareks
We go through life moment to moment,
mainly rushing through it,
but it is in the slower times
that life has true meaning.
The time you stop, to coin a phrase,
“Smell the Roses?1
To observe the beauty around you.
To value the people in your life.
To simply relax.
To dream.
But sadly, most people rarely realize this,
or value the people they know ‘til they are gone.
Garth Brooks had a song, “If Tomorrow Never Comes”
where he asks “Will the people in his life
know how much they mean to him?”
So I ask do the people in your life know?
I know mine do.-

I want to thank
Everyone
Who ever walked with you
For the places
They taught you
To take me
I want to thank them
For the love, for the laughter,
And for the tears
They gifted your heart with
I want to thank them
For the Wound Created
With their passing
Into different positions
Because without
That wound
You wouldn’t
Have the strength
.O r the compassion
To help my skin
Relearn sensation.
Or my heart relearn
What it is
To open hack up
The fact is
If you hadn’t been able
To help me
Who knows
How long I might have
Remained shut down,
Stymied
Shut down by my own
Shyness
And bereft of possibility
And hope
So yes :
. For that
I thank them
For the gifts
They sent my way
