Saturday Market
So Many Things Come and Go
by J. Minerva Davis
by Roy Cochran
Saturday in Portland on Tuesday;
the market glistens in geode lights
brighter than the tree. ’
Things lost, beckon, to the mind of man ...
Love, the Ark of the Covenant, lost lives ... and ambitions.
Many more things, of things that are “had,” will be lost And many things are recovered.
Yes, even the Ark may one day soon show up again. However, as such, it is insignificant
For similar items, having served their purposes, have gone on; as if to pass away: to represent greater
losses in search for gain.
I see the sun again;
so long since I’ve seen you, my friend.
My festive red rain trench; a saxophone sings noir.
A homeless woman peddles her wares
alongside a rented shop, but nobody cares,
ju st as lovely as the re s t
The holiday has come early to
this monochrome old new world
beneath neon street lights.
Portland ...
by Shawn Andrew Nelson
I turn the comer.
Suddenly, dubstep..
I sit in awe; in silebt repose
graced by the beautiful City of Rose.
The ebb and'flow; tustic-^alive; I
Thickened by culture and an elegant vibe.
Tiles of Brick, where the .city does sleep;
Enchanted by shadows of a fallen maple leaf.
Open the shy. she cries every night; her tears, the rain-salty delight ...
Night Clubs, street Drums;
A musicians’ haven, it becomes. .
Opening doors, the tinker of a grand, all enhanced by a master’s hand.
My love implores; her love defines; I desperately seek; her petals ...
Divine ...
Keep Portland festive.
And weird.
Mostly weird. SB
