Non Stop Shop
by Joe M.
pain, torture and fear,
we hear about it here and there.
refugees from conflicted nations
houseless people who face starvation
people in countries we bomb for no reason
just because we could, and it was the right season...
by Kenneth T. Nickell
Grey stone walls meet cobbled walkway.
Silence of night; speckled with light.
Vacant of all that gives her rise and breath.
Littered in day, covered in death.
Talking
Comes the mourn where she lay
To lead the darkest shadows stray.
But still is she, and empty.
This market void of plenty.
by Kareem Ali
but did you know
did you even consider
’ '
when you sit down to eat your delicious steak
your delicious dinner
if you are not in the same boat; '
if you are not making thè same mistake?
Do you understand
Do you comprehend
What your “food” has gone through beforehand?
the “thing” you just shoved in your mouth
was once a life
brought up in pain
lived in torture
and killed brutally,
just for your few moments of pleasure.
did you know,
did you ever reflect
they can all be a pet
just like your dog and cat
do they deserve a life of torture and death?
On the bus now
everyone is drowning
in a tsunami of phones,
texting,
gaming,
emailing.
Words are gone
disappearing into mechanical
mouth pieces
All speak in sign language
As a Sahara of silence
cascades over us all.
Great
Responsibilities
by Avendor
Because our mouths
are securely locked
from the inside
our outside
is neverin.
I’m just an Atlas
on a Dostoevskian couch
A Casanova
on a food stamp budget
A reformed Jesus
ona mission of mercy
An American forefather
during the onset of global warming
And a^Romantic poet
waiting for the bus to come.
You see,
I’m just a nervous boy,
with great responsibilities
can this reasonably be justified?
maybe you should give it some thought
maybe it should cross your mind:
“am I that kind?”
