The Theatre

The auditorium walls reverberate
with the tones of a thousand concerts long since passed.
These walls have ears,
and throats.
Listen closely. Press yourear
to the faded drapes
and lightly place your hand
against its soft folds., ’ > •'.
Behind the curtain the ol<f red brick wall
will softly begin to hum to you-
in tho voices of a thousand singers,
meh and women
scattered by the wind
into graveyards across the country,

across the world. ■
Their epitaphs have long since
faded away, their names
no longer known dr spoken.
But here, in the seemingly silent hall,
with your head pressedagainst the wall....
They are singing for you,

In harmony. In unison.
