1,
In my apartment are encyclopedias
I read about Napoleon.
There is also music
I hear “Jane Says” on the radio.
I have food too
frozen sausage, egg and cheese biscuits.
My cat is somewhere around here
she does what she wants.
I have a singing teddy bear in a devil’s shit
a girl I f-cked over gave me that. .
It sits on my writing desk
along with the book “Prayers for Healing”, by
: Maggie Oman.
I have an original painting of a girl standing by a
mirror
the colors and style remind me of Van Gogh.
My couch is virtually in tatters
I need a new one.
I have some Frankincense
its good for my soul*
This place may be the foundation for my future
you might call me a late bloomer.
I’ve spent almost the last 20 years in mental
institutions and group homes.
I’ve done some volunteer work
and got a letter from President Obama.
I’ve written some poems
a few appeared in Street Roots.
I’m farfrom achieving my dreams or delusions
but that’s okay.
Its a one-day-at-a-time, moment-bymoment life,
but god do I plan and plot; it’s my nature to do so.
Speaking of nature,
I think the whole planet should fight to save her.
But what do I know
I am just possibly the messiah.
Time will tell,
so Til redeem the time. ,
Sufficient unto the day,
is the work to be done.
Unbeknownst to me,
are the wonder and joys to be experienced.
So I guess I’ll drink tea,
until the break of dawn,
finish up my poem,
and be going, going, gone.
