I Am
By Paula Ramirez
I’m not a victim.
I’m a survivor.
I seek only truth,
Not a liar.
A positive tone will take me
Higher.
Your bitterness will make
You expire.
The Roads We Travel & The Wars
We Fight To Use Them
By Robert
With an open heart I have found that more
Roads are there for a person to travel.
Than one will see in a lifetime.
Just because a road is closed
For repairs does not mean they are
No longer trustful. Because with the human spirit
I have found that all things are now possible.
But sometimes a man must wage a
Violent and bloody war with the world
To be free to walk thin roads as he feels.
And with all wars, there are losses and gains
Unfathomable for even god or the devil to foresee.
For wars I have had and fought. There has been more loss than gains
With a gay heart I hold my head level to see what lies
Before me. So I can show everyone that a man
Can die inside himself and be reborn with
A new look on life.
Girlfriend
By Patricia Addams
And she walks away
And I watch
And enjoy it
Almost as much
As when she comes
To touch.
Being Poor
By Abraham Vinzant
It’s not what anyone wants
We all try to get better.
But there is something holding
Us back.
It may be a disability.
It may be family or friends.
But most times it’s just money.
As others well know,
There are more people at the poverty level
Than have been in the past.
It will get worse over time,
If we don’t try to fix it fast.
We will go from a higher power
To a poverty stricken country.
And she walks away
And she’s gone.
And I’ll turn around
Circles again
Hills and valleys
Girlfriend.
.
She keeps the beat
When I’m lost
In the curves
And I dip
And we sway
And she walks away.
