Believer
by Lenses
He said, “You are wrong!”
and you believed him,
felt so alone in the world
that you could never leave him,
afraid to admit how much you did need him,
and yourself you couldn’t believe in.
You were looking for a partner
but instead you found a crutch,
a heart you could lean on,
a body to touch,
but love is not love as such, as such,
no love is not love as such.
Don’t feel like much but you’re all that you need,
you can learn how to plant only positive seeds,
you can learn how to live with a heart that is free,
you can learn how to love, how to love.
But it’s silent up above
so you run to your drug,
whether person or chemical you still feel the tug,
though your heart in your chest
tells you, you are enough,
though your heart in your chest
tells you, you are your love,
you’re your love, you’re your love, you’re your love.
But not you as in “Me! And I’m separate from you!”
That too, yes that too, is also not true,
but you as in “Here!” as in “Now I belong!”
as in everyone is equal, as in no one is wrong,
sing your song, sing your song, sing your song.
He said, You are wrong,
and you did not believe him,
felt so free in this world
that you were able to leave him,
found the love for yourself so you no longer need him
because it’s yourself you believe in.
And the help that you need it is already here,
it’s the w hispering dear from your h e a rt to your ear,
and the more you let go the more words you can hear,
and your mind will be clear, will be clear.
