I’m Human
By Paula Ramirez
Just because I ’m unemployed
Doesn’t mean I’m a user.
Just because I don’t have a house,
Doesn’t mean I’m a loser.
Just because I sleep under a bridge,
Doesn’t mean I’m a chooser.
Just because a sleeping bag is my bed,
Doesn’t mean my blood don’t bleed red.
Rumors about homelessness,
Don’t believe all that’s said.
Wanna know the real truth?

Eating Bad Apples
By Michelle Grant
The food is better here, they said
The food is more interesting
In the dark places of the mind
Where one first ponders the
Availability of the fruit
Wonders that there is fruit at all
Apples or oranges or bananas
We eat like bats do,
Then we ponder organics until,
Distracted by lack of bananas,
We eat the apples - the green apples
Of unusual size
