Five ways to support
SR vendors this summer!
5. If you are traveling out of town with family or friends, buy an extra copy of
Street Roots for the road. Reading SR at the airport, train station, on a road trip
or by the campfire is bound to spur some great conversation.
4. If friends or family are visiting from out of town. Let them know what SR is and
the concept behind it, and encourage them to buy a copy of the newspaper if
they are visiting Powell’s or other locations where vendors regularly sell.
3. Water. Water. Water. If you feel the urge, ask vendors if they would like a bottle
of water on the way out. Help keep SR vendors hydrated and strong this summer.
2. Buy an additional SR and introduce the organization to at least one friend or
newcomer to Portland. You can become an ambassador for SR and help spread
the word. By doing so, you will be helping vendors sell more papers, and raise
an awareness about progressive issues in Portland.
1. Stop and talk to your local neighborhood vendor. Introduce yourself, and let
vendor know what you like and don’t like about the paper. Stay engaged and help
build a community with dozens of people selling SR throughout the city.

Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Focus on your alternative sources of
energy. You’ve got tons of reserves on
hand that you’ve just never explored, and
you’re running on carbon fumes. Flip the
switch and radiate!
L e o (J u ly 2 3 -A u g . 2 3 ) You are in need of a
massive change, but one of your own doing. Don’t
wait for it just to happen — that’s a recipe for
disaster. Control your own evolution.
V irg o (A u g . 2 4 -S e p t. 2 2 ) You’Ve got a crazy star
pattern lining up next week. Red giants and white
dwarfs tangoing all over your ‘lit galaxy of love, and
you all ready for summer. But don’t worry. There’s a
romance out there yet — in your head, on your bed
or in the shed. July is going to be steamy!
You got blood? You’re the type. You sleep in a bed,
or anywhere? You’re the type. These buggers
weren’t watting on Sealy to create their natural
environment. You’re it. Wash a lot of everything, a
lot. Inside andout. Sleep tight.
S c o r p io (O c t. 2 4 -N o v . 2 2 ) Nutria will stuff their
faces with food while they are swimming. You
should not. Try sipping on a raspberry tea instead,
while floating on a tube down a river, with fried
chicken and someone special. Get out of the
swamp rat race and do some serious relaxing. You
are way overdue and it’s starting to show.
S a g itta riu s (N o v . 2 3 -D e c . 2 3 ) Two words:
Peacock feathers! So retro, so feminine, so
unnecessary! There’s plumage and then there’s
plumage. Stick to the less plucky attire this month.
Keep it simple. Let your natural beauty sparkle in the
Portland sunshine, be it under showers, sprinkles, or
full-on rain. Time to strut!
C a p ric o r n (D e c . 2 4 -J a n . 1 9 ) Grab a book. It will
A q u a riu s (J a n . 2 0 -F e b . 1 9 ) There’s a secondary
bladder to everything. It’s that untapped reserve of
courage, fortitude and defiance that lies beneath
your blubbery moment of questioning. And it so
often really is just a moment, because you know you
always walk away thinking - gawd! - I shoulda,
woulda, coulda! Next time, remember your second
bladder. It’s been building up, waiting for you to tap
it at the right moment:
P is c e s (F e b . 2 0 -M a rc h 2 0 ) Thrust less. Parlay
more.
A rie s (M a r c h 2 1 -A p ril 2 0 ) Apparently, you’re not
allowed to whistle underwater in Portland. Better get
out of town before the blue suits wise up. Feed the
cat, charge the batteries, pack a small but sensible
bag and move it! There’s not time to him and haw
on a direction or destination; Time to roll!
T a u ru s (A p ril 2 1 -M a y 2 0 ) Turn off those “Little
House on the Prairie” reruns and get to running
be you’re only relief from the full onslaught of July,
through the fields yourself. Pet a horse this
which is,, as we know, a messy month. Grab a good

creepy crawlies, and bedbugs are headed your way. about a week, we’re all going to be toast.
G e m in i (M a y 2 1 -J u n e 2 1 ) Come clean.
Don’t think for a moment you’re not the bedbug type.
