The Cannon Beach Gallery presents Cannon Beach A r ti Association offers Artist G rant Gary Callaway The Cannon Beach Arts Association is offering a $3,000 grant fo r original work in any media The recipient must be a part o f the Cannon Beach community, producing or actively exhibiting or performing w ithin the city, or document short-term residence fo r the duration o f the proposed project The grant amount, $1500 o f which is funded by the City o f Cannon Beach, may be awarded in part or in total to those who qualify. Since the purpose o f the grant is to promote the excellence o f Cannon Beach artists as well as to encourage art audiences, the artist would be expected to return to the community, by means o f temporary exhibit, performance, community education, or as otherwise specified, a portion o f the funded project as defined in the proposal The 1998 recipient, Peter Lindsey, who has written an anecdotal history o f Cannon Beach (portions o f which have been published in this newspaper), fille d local halls when he read from his work 1999 recipient Grant Wood is producing a book about the pigments he is creating from local materials The book, called “ The Colors o f Cannon Beach” , along with works by local artists u tilizing his pigment^,,yyilL bp displayed in the Cannon Beach Gallery during September 2000 Applications fo r the grant, which are due by August 31st, 2000, are available at the Cannon Beach Gallery, 1064 S.
