BOX 518 CANNON UKACn, OR »7110 The paper recycling program that was started at the recycling depot in October 1995 and at the Post Office in February 1995 is a success! Many local businesses have implemented paper recycling programs and residents have been recy cling their paper at the post office and now at the depot But like all commodities, just when we all think we understand how to do it. the industry standards change. Here is the current criteria for paper to be accepted for recycling 1. OFFICE PAPER/WH1TE BOND PAPER White paper only with any colored ink except red Sometimes this is referred to as bond paper Typical examples are business letters, bills, flyers and inserts 2. COMPUTER PAPER The type of computer paper that has the tear away holes on the sides Typical examples here are pay roll vouchers, form letters, address lists, etc 3. MIXED PAPER All other types of "office paper" other than bond and computer. Mixed paper includes colored paper and envelopes. This category is easier to understand by what is not included. UNACCEPTABLE types of paper to include are gift wTap. tissue paper, any paper that is coated with wax or plastic, construction paper, gray board and non-paper products **** MANILA ENVELOPES***** Those brown envelopes are recyclable, but they are considered cardboard not paper The Third,6ye HAM M eK SURFBO A RD S. If y ou put them in the recy cling bins at the Post Office unopened, then staff or volunteers have to hand sort them out and open them. The reason they are considered contamination is that often unopened mail contains other products in it An example is a sweepstakes contest that recently had a plastic id card in every circular it sent out If you have questions about the differences in the paper sorts you can check with Andrew Mackey at the Recycling Center during the below mentioned designated drop-off hours The hours for drop-off at the depot are, RESIDENTIAL SAT. 9 AM - 12 PM COMMERCIAL TU & TH 8:30 AM -11:30 AM Mon -Sal 11 am - 8 pm Sun I 1 am ■ 7 pm 232-3EYE Curbside Recycling is not available at this time Thanks to all of you this program is making a huge dent in what is sent to the landfill. 3950 S.E.
