Hot off the Presses' Sahallie watch Much
to no one s surprise the Seaside City
Council decided not to decide, again,
Monday night October 25th As the story
grows more bizzare by the day, one council
person had a heart attack, one disqualified
him self as a realtor, and they all agreed to
dodge the bullet t i l Nov 22
Again the chambers were fu ll, as
Seaside Citizens learned how painfully
frustratin g, boring, and messy democracy
really is New evidence w ill be accepted
(in w ritin g of course) before the last
fa te fu l meeting, and perhaps the most
amusing w ill be that the land in question
has apparently never been surveyed1 How
do you know what you are buying or selling
if you do not measure i t 7 We w ill probably
not know the end of this story before the
next Edge comes out, but either way we
w ill let you know And Hurray for the
people of Seaside' Don t let them get you
down'
the inalienable right to make a damned
This newspaper is on record as a supporter
of the Don t te ll, we don t care policy on
everyone else s sex life Reqretfully, certain
self-proclaimed defenders of hygenenic
practices among the nomadic tribes of the
Middle East in 200 B C . are again attempt ing
to establish a State Religion And we are just
a little sick of it (We can imagine the
embarassment it must be causing Jesus He
was known as a pretty tolerant guy, except
when it came to the money changers ) l uckily
there are some folks in almost every
community who are w illin g to stand up for the
Freedoms and Rights that so many Americans
have died for In this area we recommend you
get in touch w ith the Good Neighbors PAC (As
in, good fences make good neighbors, so don t
go peeking into my backyard, it s none of your
business what I do there ) These folks are
currently distribu ting an advisory p e titio n
that calls on the City of Warrenton to refuse
to alter the Warrenton Charter so that it w ill
discrim inate against folks based on who they
have sex w ith We recommend you give them
some help Become a Good Neighbor by
w ritin g to Good Neighbor PAC Box 432,
Warrenton, Or 97146-0432, or you can call
Vernice Berg at 8 6 1 3869 or Jim Maggert at
861-2752 and send in a few bucks, these are
local folks trying to keep this country free,
and they don t get money from television
evangelists who can afford to run for
president every four years If you want to
sign the advisory (you don t have to be a
registered voter) you can l ind it in Astoria at

Okay, it is November and several things
spring to mind Both of our sisters'
birthdays (happy Susie and Judi),
Thanksgiving (we must remember to thank
those Native Americans in a more
meaningful manner soon), and of course the
elections
This November thanks to the State
Legislature and the State Judicial system
we Oregonians once again vote on the
question of Sales Tax It is not that we
think cursing the government everytime
we buy something is not that great of an
idea, it is just that we are offended by the
ta ctics used in this recent attempt
Schools are not the problem, they are the
solution, the problem is the schools are
not funded as a fir s t p rio rity in this state
The schools should have on the state level
the same holiness that the defense budget
has on a federal level It is not that we
don't collect enouqh taxes in this state to
run our school system, it's that we spend
that money on everything but our children,
and then hold a gun to our kids heads and
say "your money or your kid's life " It is
not a fa ir question, it ,s not a solution, it
is wrong We believe that it is a symptom
of a serious problem in Salem
We respectfully suggest that though the
problem is in the Legislature, the solution
could be in the Governor s office We have
a great deal of respect for Gov Roberts
and what she represents to the citizens of
this state, she is a fighter, and as
compassionate a leader as we could hope
for, but just as it was her fam ily that
brought her into the p o lticia l arena, it
should be her fam ily that should again take
p rio rity and bring about her withdrawal
She need not worry for Oregon if John
Kitzhaper does what he says he intends to
do, and we have lit t le doubt of his a b ility
or resolve We would hope that the best
interests of Oregon, and the Roberts
fam ily, could be the same We ll see how
things look in the spring

Okay, now we ve started ranting we have a
hard time stopping Packwood Just quit, go
be a lobbyist for the timber industry, don t

don t want to be embarassed by our "leaders"
anymore (We know it is too much to hope In
rea lity we can expect a Made for T V Movie -
