G od has room e n o u g h for a ll.” I t was su ch a s u rp ris e to find t h a t th e re was one h e a rt te n d e re r iu th a t d ire c tio n th a n m y own. Y et, su c h is h u m a n in c o n s is te n c y , th a t he w ould g lad ly e a t of th e poor d e er w hich th e h u n te r s had dogged over h ill a n d v a lle y .a u d th ro u g h lake a n d stre a m , a n d fin ally m u rd e re d , w ith his g re a t p ity in g eyes lo o k in g up so im p lo rin g ly to his s la y e r ! 1 sh u d d e re d w hen I saw t h a t —lik e th e eye of a lo st soul G od w as h u rlin g to fiery to r m e n t fo rev er ! T h ere, to o , was a m ig h ty n e ig h b o r of o u rs , S q u ire B aily, who u sed to e m p h a siz e his s ta te m e n ts w ith “ d a m n it, 1 te ll y o u !” A fte r he becam e a v e stry m a n he c o n v e rte d his “d am n in to “d a r n ” an d ta u g h t m y cla ss. Now 1 had a s is te r o nly tw e n ty m o n th s old- e r th a n m y self, who le a rn e d so ra p id ly t h a t in c o m p a rin g m y se lf to her, as o th e rs d id , 1 had m ade a c a re fu l e s ti m a te a u d c o n c lu d e d th a t 1 was a b lo c k h ead , a u d so a fa ilu re .
