The Prefect of Police has now taken step» to h a v e such nuisances removed on appli cation. The cost is not to exceed $1, which is to be paid by the ap plicant. Dr. Ludwig Mach has successful ly alloyed aluminum with magnes ium and thereby obtained a com pound which can he worked like brass, and which is lighter still than aluminum, says the Iron Age. A 10 per cent magnesium alloy re sembles zinc, a 15 per eent alloy is like brass, and a 25 per cent like compound bronze. The alloy is a l most as white as silver and very hard. It is less expensive than brass.
