A nd groan in gory pain,
T hen from th e v icto rs’ ran k s
T h ere ascends loud acclaim ,
To give th e W ar God th a n k s
F o r m aking sure th e ir aim .
W hy should a God of W ar
Be w anted in th e strife ?
Men are too m ad by far
To need his b u tc h e r knife.
L et each and every ran k
T h en h ail th e peaceful s ta r,
T h e ir arm s no longer clank,
B u t bounce th e God of W ar.
