E ditor T orch of R eason :
We read all the F reethought

hold of and we see th a t all seem
anxious for organization in all the
states, but one thing we seldom see,

the kind th a t is in operation. \\ hy
is it? Is it because F reethought is
narrow and selfish?
There is seldom a week passes
th a t we do not get letters asking for
donations for som ething public or
private to assist some one in the
east, and we have searched in vain
for a record of anyone in the east
doing an y th in g of great conse

trying h ard to keep above the ice
strengthen F reethought unless the
young are educated in th a t light?
For my part, I see the need of an
education, and shall do all in my
power to help educate the young to
th in k for themselves. As the twig
is bent, so stan d s the tree. I have
only one boy,and he is in this Free-
thought school, and it I live to see
my grandchildren grow up, I shall
do all I can to give them a sta rt in
the world w ithout th eir being bur-
dened with superstition as I was.
Yours for T ru th and Justice,
