Sara “Lilly” Ellsworth
Sara “Lilly” Elizabeth Ellsworth was born Jan. 23, 1953, in
Washington to her parents John and Sara
Campbell. She passed away from stage 4 lung
cancer on April 17, 2021, in The Dalles, Ore.,
which is where she spent the majority of her
life with her loving lifelong partner Chester
Hall.
Lilly lived a very full life with lots of friends
and family by her side. She is now resting in
heaven with her parents, her sister Elizabeth
Sara "Lilly"
(Betty) Morris, her brother John Campbell Jr.,
Ellsworth
and her son-in-law Timothy Boyette.
Lilly is survived by her partner Chester
Hall, and her children Shannon Boyette and Jerry Billings,
and his wife Kirsten Pauling. She is also survived by her
grandchildren Kayla Grier, Kayla’s husband Mathew Grier,
Allyson Wickerham, Allyson’s fiancé Austin Granville,
David Billings, Madison Billings, Alexander Billings, and
Jesse Billings, and her great-grandchildren Kaylee Grier,
Johnmicheal Grier, Lillyanna Grier, Jenson Grier, Layke Grier,
Addison Granville, and Amelia Granville.
Lilly will also be survived by her very long list of friends and
close community members, Ruth Beedie, who was Lilly’s very
best friend and her daughter Robin Haberman were like fami-
ly to Lilly and helped take care of her in her final months. Lilly
was also close with her recovery community and the many
sponsees she gained over the years, as well as her church
community who helped her keep her faith throughout many
triumphs.
Lilly loved to do arts and crafts, especially with her
great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to her Tops meet-
ings, and she cherished going to Rockaway Beach. Lilly also
enjoyed making flower arrangements of all kinds, and Lilly
spent many years looking for the perfect wildflowers, which
also meant that anyone who knew her well knew that she'd
make you stop on the side of the road for her to hop out and
grab that perfect flower.
Lilly Ellsworth will be immensely missed by her partner
Chester hall, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchil-
dren, and her very long list of family like friends. Flowers,
donations, and condolences can be offered to Chester Hall,
and her children Shannon Boyette, and Jerry Billings.
"You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide
and though we cannot see you, you're always at our side."

Robert Anderson
Robert "Bob" Allene Anderson passed away suddenly on
April 10, 2021, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Florence and Carl Anderson, and
brother, Warren Anderson.
Bob was one of the first babies born in
Hood River Hospital on Sept. 25, 1937. His
family moved to North Dakota for much of
his childhood, then returned to the Hood
River Valley, where Bob graduated from
Wy’east High School in 1957. After serving for
four years in the U.S. Navy and marrying Ilene
Robert
Rogers, Bob and his young family settled
Anderson
in Seattle, Wash., where he briefly worked
at Boeing before joining the Seattle Fire
Department. After 25 years of service, Bob retired from the
fire department and he and Ilene returned to Hood River for
their retirement years.
Bob’s retirement was anything but quiet. For the first few
years, he and Ilene were busy building a log home using trees
from their land in Oak Grove. His cows, pigs and chickens also
kept him busy. Bob was a long-time member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church, active in worship, community service and
social activities. He served as a trustee at Immanuel and
devoted many hours to its care and upkeep.
Bob will be remembered by many as a kind, hardworking
and faithful man but he was also a jokester. Family gatherings
always included laughter, with Bob wiping his eyes as he
laughed the hardest. He loved his grandchildren deeply and
enjoyed spending time with them, from taking them on tours
of "grandpa’s fire station" to teaching them how to drive a
tractor on the farm.
Bob was beloved by many and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ilene; son Jon
(Roxane); daughters, Mary, Michal (Charlie) Allaire, and Joy
(Rick) Wood; and brothers, Dale and Jerry. Bob also leaves
behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
There will be a private internment at Idlewilde Cemetery
with a celebration of life later in the spring. Donations can be
made in remembrance of Bob to the Guatemalan Orphanage
sponsored by Immanuel Lutheran Church at www.childbe-
yond.org.
Mandie Godfrey
Our loved Mandie Jolene Godfrey passed away at home
Oct. 22, 2020, due to a massive heart attack. Mandie was diag-
nosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease,
in the spring of last year.
Mandie was born Oct. 18, 1975, in Hood
River, Ore., to Jim and Sherry Iles Godfrey.
She was raised in Mt. Hood and moved to the
coast in 1998 to join her mother and sister,
Jamie.
Mandie often said her best years were
growing up in the Hood River Valley with
Mandie
all her family and friends. As a child, she
Godfrey
enjoyed roller skating at Parkdale Elementary
School and playing Little League softball for Parkdale. She
also enjoyed going to Kingsley with her friends and riding
four-wheelers. Mandie graduated from Hood River Valley
High School.
The true love of her life was her dad, spending time hunt-
ing, fishing, and keeping stats for the wrestling teams. She
also loved being with her Grandpa and Grandma Godfrey of
Odell.
Mandie leaves behind her greatest love, a son, Tyler Reed
Godfrey, and her mother, Sherry, both of Tillamook; and her
father, Jim Godfrey, of Lapine.
Mandie was loved by many people and will be missed more
than words can convey our loss. A private service is pending.
I would like to take this moment and thank everyone for
their cards of condolence, phone calls, and flowers. Also a
deeply heartfelt thank you to everyone who made a contribu-
tion toward the Go Fund Me account last fall for Mandie; your
generosity was appreciated more than words could ever be
said. Because of you, a loving headstone will be placed at Pine
Grove Cemetery next to her sister this summer.
