Painting Town Hall
It has been a bit like Tom Sawyer painting his fence and getting everyone in tow n to help. W e started
w ith painting the tow n hall and soon had a donation of a new sign, an offer to restore the bench in front
and a new garbage can. Be sure to drive-by the tow n hall. It looks like a new building. M any thanks to
Barry Holm for envisioning and organizing the project and the actual painting of the building. A special
thanks to the other donors. W e can take pride in our new look and it was all donated by our residents.
Sheriff D epartm ent Public M eeting
W e are working w ith the Sheriff's Departm ent to find a solution to our police protection problem s. They
are looking for a retired deputy that m ight be interested in doing part-tim e duty in Butte Falls. There will
be a public m eeting in the park on August 13 ,h tat 6:30 to engage in a dialogue w ith the sheriffs depart ­
m ent exam ining our needs and the services of the Sheriffs Departm ent can offer. W e are looking at de ­
veloping a robust Neighborhood W atch program w ith Sheriffs Departm ent training and guidance. W e
hope you w ill attend the m eeting on August 13 th . W e need your input.
H istoric Train
W e continue to work w ith W eyehaeuser in an attem pt to acquire the right-of-way for the MEDCO steam
engine #4 to operate the 3 m iles from The Landing to the cem etery. W e are trying to negotiate a face-to-
face m eeting w ith W eyehaeuser officials on the m atter.
O regon M ayors' Association M eeting
I w ill be attending the Oregon M ayors' Association M eeting on July 27-29. I hope to m eet w ith towns of
less than 1,000 population to see if we can develop ways to share best practices and to w ork together.
