Sensei Dave Pritchett, a certified black belt karate instructor, has met with local residents
with the hope of offering martial arts self defense classes in Butte Falls. Sensei Pritchett has
previously taught some local residents, and has expressed willingness to establish a self
defense dojo in Butte Falls. "The emphasis of my instruction will be body, mind and spirit,"
says Sensei Pritchett. "The teaching will focus on cardiovascular and muscular development
in a martial arts environment, which are keys to proper self defense training." Pritchett feels
the classes will appeal and be appropriate for students of all ages and physical conditioning.
Students will come to train from all walks of life, and be permitted to learn at their own
individual pace.
Sensei Pritchett currently owns and operates an American Open Style Karate school in Eagle
Point. Several Butte Falls residents had trained with him, and have advised him that they
would like him to teach here in Butte Falls. If sufficient interest produces students interested
in training, classes could begin as soon as August. For information, interested parties are
encouraged to contact Sensei Pritchett at 826-4181/878-4666, or Bridget McGonagle at 865-
4216.
