Did you know that milkweed juice has been know to cure warts
and ringworm? And that blackberry juice is used to stop
diarrhea? Herbs have been used to cure illness since the
beginning of time in all parts of the world. When the search for
spices led early explorers to America, they found a land rich in
medicinal herbs. The Native Americans were proficient in their
ability to utilize plant remedies.
Linda Stevens, locally known as ‘the herb lady’ is a certified
herbologist and has been creating herbal formulas and lotions
for 40 years. Her and her husband, Ray (also a herbologist) are
the owners of Bare Necessities Herbal Skin and Health Care
products. They sell their products at the Medford and Grants
\ Pass growers markets and are often seen in Butte Falls advising
■ local folks on health issues.
' Linda and Ray are the parents of 1 grown daughter and have 3
grandchildren. The have 2 dogs and exotic cats; the Bengal
. Leopard and the African ServaL They drum with the Native
1 American band ‘Good Medicine’ at pow wow’s and at the New
‘ Jerusalem Center. Linda also enjoys crafting Native American
. clothing, moccasins, jewelry and beading. Linda relies on this
