I would like to give a huge “thanks” to Julie
Freeman who essentially saved the boarding
house and surrounding buildings in June.
When fire broke loose in the adjacent
apartment, Julie took no time at all to grab the
fire extinguisher from the tavern and quickly
attack the fire. Although, the fire department
„ was on the way, those few minutes were
► critical in this case. It is a reminder for all of
us to stay up to date and confident in our
emergency skills. Thanks Julie

And Then....
The Butte Falls Volunteer Fire
Department Auxiliary is once again
selling scrumptious desserts at the
fire department benefit....
It is happening on August 9th and a
great bar-b-que with all the trimmngs,
cooked to perfection by Sandy and Rick
Carle, will be served in the park for $8.00 a
plate. After a good meal, what better way
to top it off then with your favorite
dessert? The auxiliary will have a dessert
booth also in the park, and you should be
able to find something that will sweeten
up the rest of your day.
Please help us raise a few dollars for the
fire department auxiliary by donating a
dessert to sell at the benefit. All donations
accepted; just bring them to the fire hall
the morning of August 9th.
We are so lucky to have community members
who are willing to come forth and help in the
event of an emergency. However, we would
like to remind everyone that once the fire or
ambulance crew is on scene, it becomes a
liability fortheir organizations if they allow
civilians to be involved in the action. None of
these organizations, including the city, can
afford a large lawsuit. They will be asking you
to step back and let them do their jobs. If you
