G rant. W hen th e $50,000 g ran t w as
approved it cam e a b o ut during the
dry season and thinning practices
w ere o u t o f th e question considering
th e fo re st fire danger. N ow ,
how ever, w e ’ re ready to g e t started
helping landow ners g e t th e ir brush
situations under control. W e now
have the ability to w o rk w ith property
ow ners to cle a r up to one acre
around th e ir hom e. Ideally, a 100 ’
radius around hom es should be
thinned o f la d d e r fuels. T h is service
is a t NO COST to the property
ow ner. G etting involved in this
p ro ject is a sm a rt idea fo r several
reasons: 1) free assistance (labor);
2) results in a sa fe r “ w ild land fire
zo n e ” ; 3) helps establish h e alth ie r
w oodlands. Y o u ’ ll feel m uch m ore
secure know ing yo u ’ ve decreased
th e fire danger around yo u r hom e.
