ACCESS, In c., the Commu n ity Action for
Jackson Cou n ty, is "goin g the e xtra mile " this

are aware of the se rvice s an d assistan ce that
might be available to the m. ACCESS officials
have me t with civic an d commu n ity le ade rs in
Bu tte Falls an d e xpre sse d a de sire to he lp the
Town an d its re side n ts be n e fit

variou s se rvice s ACCESS provide s. For ove r
25 years, ACCESS has been providing a vast
array of services for residents in southern
Oregon in the areas of family self-sufficiency;
nutritional meals for persons with disabilities,
senior citizens and school ages youth;
medical equipment; emergency and
supplemental food supplies; housing
weatherization, and winter utility assistance.
More recently, transitional housing; mortage
counseling and assistance; development and
management of affordable housing, and
Junior Achievement's K-12 economic
education programs have been added to
ACCESS' program list. ACCESS Chief
Executive Officer, Patty Claeys, told Butte
Falls officials: "ACCESS' goal is to make sure
the community of Butte Falls and its citizens
benefit from our services just as other
Jackson County communities do". Normally,
residents would have to drive to Medford to
sign up or receive services. In an effort to
reach out to residensts, ACCESS is bringing
some of its staff to Butte Falls on January 10,
2002 from 11 :00 AM to 1 :00 PM at the
Community Hall, 555 Oak Street. ACCESS
staff will answer questions about available
services and explain income guidelines. If
you are interested in receiving and of the
services listed below, YOU MUST CONTACT
at ACCESS department providing that service
priorto January 10th! An ACCESS
representative will answer your questions,
schedule and appointment to meet with you in
Butte Falls, and advise you of the
documentation you must bring with you to
that meeting. The following is a list of the
services provided by ACCESS. *ACCESS
Energy Department: The Energy Department
provides both weatherization and heating
assistance; weatherization includes such
services as attic, floor and wall insulation,
and health and safety measures provided at
no cost. Call Larry at 541-779-9020 x 360 for
details. Heating Assistance Program helps
households with home heating utility
costs/repair. Call Linda at 541-779-9020 x 315
for information.*ACCESS Nutrition Program:
Brown Bag Program...receive a monthly bag
of surplus food, weekly bread products, a
monthly newsletter with recipes and
nutritional information. Income requirements
must be met to particpate. Fee is $10 per
6-month period. Call 541-774-4336 for more
information.
