We again wish to say thank you for
your support of our membership drive.
Our 4th of July, 50/50 drawing brought
us about $75.00. Yvonne Witte won half
and donated it back. Thanks Yvonne!!!
This act of kindness is nver expected
but always a great surprise! And since
the 4th of July we have had some other
monetary donations. Thanks to those of
you out there that have mailed them in!
it’s slow going but we are sure we will
have the $5000 by November of this
year to cover our 2002 membership fee.
The Jackson County Fair is not only fun and
games,
b u t a ls o a lo t o f w o rk fo r k id s w h o s h o w
Vwestock. 4-H is a wonderful program that teaches
kids responsibility, livestock mangement and
financial record keekping.
A number of Butte Falls kids showed animals at
this years fair. Melody Carlisle, Vickie Lawrence,
Shawna and Brianna Wright, Brian Marquard,
Jordan Dyck, Josh Dyck, Randi Pitts and Krystal
and Austin Rowley all showed pigs at the
beginning of the week. Kayla McKibben and
Shelley Marquard showed and sold steers at the
end of the week.
These kids must own their animanls for a required
length of time while they learn to feed and keep
careful records. The animals are their respons
ibility and they are to assume the vast majority of
the care with little parental or outside help.
Butte Falls should be proud of these kids and the
projects they have undertaken.Take the time to
say “Good Job” when you see one of these kids.
Shelley Marquard did great for her first year
taking a steer to fair. Her steer Sammy, took
2nd place in the market class, but Shelley did even
better in showmanship. She took reserve grand
championship in the intermediate division, which
is not bad for her first yearl
After raising Sammy for one and a half years,
there were some tears when it was time to go to
auction. Even though it was a hard, Shelley says
that that is part of the process and her goal was
to have a good product for the buyer.
We want to tell the Rydberg’s we are
sorry for the loss of their husband,
father, father-in-law, and grandpa. Our
thoughts and prayers are with you all.
