Butte Falls Lioness News
The ButteFalls Lioness Club started their
year 2000/2001 with a bang. We are proud to
be a service club in Oregon State
Lions/Lioness area and being sponsored by
the Eagle Point Lions Club.
The Butte Falls annual Fourth of July parade
was our first project and we came away with
second prize in the float division. Lioness Lila
McClanahan designed an executed our float
of the “Butte Creels Falls and the Viewpoint”
assisted by lioness members and volunteers.
In August, 343 cyclists and personnel of the
Scenic Cycling Adventure came to Butte
Falls. The Lioness took over hosting the
group for breakfast. It was a great success
due to the excellent kitchen facilities of the
Butte Falls Elementary School and the
expertise of Joyce Brown, other volunteers
and Lioness members.
October 30th, the Oregon Lions Mobile Unit
was here testing our school children and
others for sight, hearing, blood pressure,
blood test and diabetes. This event was
sponsored by the Butte Falls Lioness Club. A
special “Thank You” to our volunteers.
Plans are in the making for the annual Butte
Falls “Christmas In The Country” Bazaar,
another Lioness project. It will be held
November 18th at the community hall. Lioness
Lois Hamann and Lioness Lila McClanahan
. are chairpersons of this event. Call them if
. you plan on a table space by making your
reservation early for the great affair.
Two new members will be initiated at our
November meeting. We meet the first Tuesday
of each month at the community hall at 1:00
P.M. We are a going group, come join us.
We would like to do something different this
year by including both the High School and
Grade Schoo! kids. We would like the Grade ,
School kids to have their decorated trees
from their classrooms to be on display in the
upstairs of the hall. One suggestion would be I
to sell raffle tickets with the trees as prizes as
a way to make some money for the school.
We could provide judges and have eight
different categories so everyone is a winner.
We would like to have the High School
decorate 4 trees and then have a silent
auction on them upstairs. The Close U p g r o u p

utilize the students for their commumty
service hours. The hall will need to be cleaned
and decorated the weekend before. Anyone
wanting to volunteer is more than welcome.
We hope this endeavor will be a great
success and can look forward to doing this
every year. We are respectfully asking for
donations. The money we collect will go
towards purchasing prizes, decorations and
supplies for Santa’s gift bags, etc. We need all
the help we can get to make this a reality.
Let’s make this our first annual Hometown
Family Christmas. Thank you for supporting a
community based project. Call Lori
at 805-3262 or 835-3S24.
