This month the Butte Falls Bulletin features our very own Public Works

Tom was born December 18,1953 in North Hollywood, California. His
family moved to Butte Falls in 1955. In 1957 they moved to their new home
on Butte Falls Highway near the Midway Store where he grew up. He
attended Eagle Point Schools where he graduated in 1972. During his school
years he played baseball. He then went to Denver Automotive Diesel College
and graduated in 1974. When he completed that program he returned to
Eagle Point to work as a mechanic. Tom was also was a volunteer fire captain
for the Eagle Point fire department for four years then volunteer fireman for
the Jackson County District #3 another three years.
His two oldest daughters Amy and Amanda were born in 1976 and 1978.
He then bought and operated the Eagle Point Auto Parts from 1978 to 1981.
When time permitted he enjoyed riding motorcycles. In 1982, he worked one
year for the Butte Falls Forest Service. In 1983 he worked for one year in the
oil fields in Evanston Wyoming. (In Wyoming??) In 1983 he met Becky and
(Lindy, at age of 1 14). They settled down as a family together and in 1986
started their own family in Butte Falls. Brittany was born in 1986, Julie in
1987, Kylie in 1989 and Thomas in 1990.
He worked various jobs until he went back to college for electronics in
1991-1993 doing an outstanding job. After that he again worked at various
jobs until he went to work for the Town of Butte Falls in 1998. He is the
Director of Public W orks. Tom has his certifications in Waste Water
Treatment and Waste Water Collections from the DEQ. In March he is going for his Waste Water Treatment 2 Certification and in May
his Water Distributions 1 Certifications from the Health Division. Tom still volunteers in his community when needed and is able. Last
Spring he helped coach Little League and is currently a Cub Scout leader with the new Pack 64.

p.s.
Currently Tom ’s big endeavor has been overseeing the new water lines being placed into our town. It has been a challenge making sure
that everything is done to code and staying on schedule and most important keeping the citizens of Butte Falls happy while the streets were
being ground up and there was much more mud to deal with. He has done a good job and has learned much I'm sure over the last few
months. It helps too when you have a good team to work with such as Jack Hayes, Pete Vorbeck and Burl Brim Construction. Keep up
the good work!
