OREGON 97522 - 97524 Citizen off the Month his month Wl BUUETTN would like to bring to your attention our 6fHZEN OF < MONTH, Molly Lawrence. Molly Abercrombie was bom in Santa Barbara, California and was raised on a ranch near Goleta, California. She loved riding her horse through the families orchards, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful scenery. By the time she was of high school age her family had moved to Redmond, Oregon. After high school she enrolled in Southern Oregon University and earned her Secondary7 Education degree in 1979. In one of her classes at SOU, someone caught her eye and she was soon interested in more than her studies. She married William (Buff) Lawrence on November 21,1979. They moved to Butte Falls in April of 1980 where they lived at the Guard Station, since Buff ■ worked for the Oregon State Forestry. They began building their new7 home on Obenchain Road and moved into it in 1984. By now, they7 had two other additions to their family, Lilian and Sara. Soon, they had to add extra rooms onto their new home Molly has been involved in many things in the Butte Falls area. Her number one priority has always been her children. Since there were five, this has never been a small job. Her children, Lilian, Sara, Andrew, Victoria and Willy have all at one time been home-schooled by their mom. Plus, she is a substitute teacher at the Butte Falls Grade School where she loves to pay a little extra attention to a student that may be having a bad day, by using some of her words of encouragement. Molly, is definitely a mercy7 person, and wants to help anyone that is needing support or a helping hand. She organized tennis lessons in Butte Falls and has had quite an interest from the town’s people - of all ages. Molly successfully applied for a grant to acquire a new piano for the grade school. When she has a spare hour or two she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, swimming, tennis and attending church activities. Let’s let her husband, Buff, sum her up in a nutshell. His words are “She always had a dream to move to Butte Falls, home-school her children (taking it one year at a time), then eventually being a substitute teacher at the Butte Falls schools and raising her children here”. He also said “She is a very dedicated wife and mother”. Yes, Molly we think you are a keeper and are glad to have you as part of our community! by Cory Hamann <
